The Strategy was written in 1994 to develop the objectives further, by:
i) Setting out information on the landscape, wildlife and recreation opportunities in the Wensum Valley.
ii) Identifying what is required to achieve the objectives of the Wensum Valley Project.
iii) Putting forward a framework of policies by which everyone involved in managing the Wensum Valley can take action to secure its future.
This document is 62 pages long and includes a number of maps such as Landscape Character Assessment in the Project Area and Designated Wildlife Sites (at the time of writing in 1994).
The Strategy is now slightly dated as, for example, it doesn’t include recently recognised terms (such as biodiversity) but is full of interesting background information about the valley. Much of this has been updated and incorporated into the Wensum Valley section of this website.
