> Horse riding

Horses can be ridden along the Marriott’s Way. This is a traffic-free trail and is hard surfaced from Norwich (Barn Road roundabout) to Aylsham (21 miles), passing through the Wensum Valley at Norwich, Hellesdon, Drayton, Taverham, Attlebridge and Lenwade.

The Marriott's Way at Lenwade. The exact route can be found on the Norfolk County Council Countryside Access website where you can also print out the map in sections. Alternatively you can contact us for a (less detailed) leaflet. The route can also be found on relevant Ordnance Survey Maps available from bookshops and tourist information centres.

Numerous riding schools are established in the Wensum Valley. The rides make use of facilities within the riding school grounds, or the quieter country roads combined with available public rights of way.

A nationally important eventing course has been established at Blackwater Farm, Great Witchingham, close to the Marriott’s Way. Tall hedges and rolling farmland integrate the course jumps into the local landscape. Contact 01603 873087.
