There are a number of formal parks in Norwich (all owned by Norwich City Council), providing open green spaces for walks and quiet recreation (cycles, football, picnics).
Anderson’s Meadow and Wensum Park have direct access to the River Wensum and English Heritage has designated Wensum Park as a Historic Park. Entrances to Wensum Park are on Drayton Road and St Martin’s Road. Access to Anderson’s Meadow is from the Dolphin Footpath (runs from Drayton Road to Heigham Street), the Marriott’s Way and Mile Cross Road.
Local person Tony Sutton has a folder of photographs of Wensum Park taken in 2003.
Sloughbottom Park offers football pitches, children’s play area, a small circular bike racing track, pavilion and eco-orchard. It links to the Marriott’s Way to the south. Carry on south through to the Wensum Local Nature Reserve and the Riverside Walk.
At
Fakenham, Aldiss Community Park, gives access to the river, with a picnic area, open space for ball games, wildlife area and good car parking. It also links to the Fakenham Circular Walk.
