The Wensum Valley Project Area comprises three main topographical forms: the valley floor, the valley sides and plateau land. Within these distinctive zones there are a wide range of features, which give rise to a landscape of contrasts.
The landscape was assessed following the Countryside Commission approach in the 'Assessment and Conservation of Landscape Character - The Warwickshire Landscape Project (1991) ' Ten key character areas were identified.
